《中国装饰艺术赏析》课程的设置旨在通过课程教学帮助学生了解中国传统装饰艺术中国具有5千多年的文明，中国艺术在历史发展与演变过程中， 形成自己独特的民族风格与精神。 本课程从中国新石器时代的岩壁画、彩陶纹展开讲解，本课程着重展现了中国装饰艺术中秦汉时期浑厚大气的青铜器、画像砖、瓦当，隋唐时期的敦煌人物绘画，以及直到明清时期质朴的民间工艺等。
课程中通过列举中国典型的龙纹、凤纹、虎纹、马纹、植物纹的发展历史，使学生在这些图形的演变过程中，纵向了解了中国各个时期的装饰艺术特点与风格。
